Request for Research Questions

The PRIDE Study – a national longitudinal cohort study of sexual and gender minority health – aims to improve the health of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people. All sexual and gender minority (LGBTQ) people aged 18 years or older who live in the United States will be eligible to enroll in the study.

Annual questionnaires to cohort members will improve understanding of how being LGBTQ is related to all aspects of health and life including the unique health care disparities, strengths, and resiliencies of our communities. The PRIDE Study is an entirely electronic cohort study powered by an advanced participant recruitment, management, and retention system. As a longitudinal study, cohort members will participate for years, hopefully decades. Additional information about The PRIDE Study is available at pridestudy.org.

In preparation for the launch of The PRIDE Study in mid-2015, we are currently soliciting the greater LGBTQ communities for specific questions of particular LGBTQ health interest. We are committed to representing diverse voices in this study, not simply those of researchers in the academic medical research enterprise. We encourage community-based LGBTQ and health organizations, community advocates, individuals, foundations, industry, and researchers to submit informed questions of interest for study.

Please submit research questions at www.pridestudy.org/RFQ. Alternatively, please e-mail the required information to pridestudy@ucsf.edu on or before February 9, 2015. Please include the submitter’s name, title (if applicable), affiliation(s), e-mail address, telephone number, and area of content expertise (if applicable). Please indicate if the submission is on behalf of an organization, group, or individual.

There is no limit to the number of questions that can be submitted per person or organization.

Questions regarding this request should be addressed to Mitchell R. Lunn, MD and Juno Obedin-Maliver, MD, MPH at pridestudy@ucsf.edu or (855) 421-9991 (toll-free).
