PFLAG Cleveland is active in community outreach, education, and advocacy. If you're interested in reaching beyond PFLAG Support Group meetings, consider becoming a PFLAG Cleveland Volunteer, offering educational programs to community groups, including universities and schools; businesses and corporations; and faith-based groups requesting our help. Key activities include:
Speakers Bureau (Participate as a panelist or featured presenter by sharing your story, summarizing and defining LGBTQ+ terms, sharing how to create a welcoming environment, how to be an ally, summarizing current legislative issues important to the LGBTQ+ community )
Table Staffing (literature distribution; answer questions about PFLAG; share story)
Advocacy (contact elected officials; responding to local media requests )
Board Member (becoming a member; assisting in membership drives and fundraising efforts; writing for the bimonthly newsletter; joining our social media and website efforts)
Serving as a liaison to community groups such as GLSEN Cleveland, TransFamily, ColorsPlus+ Plexus, and the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center of Cleveland
Organizing special events (Pride Day Brunch, Pride Parade Events, PFLAG's Annual picnic and periodic social events for members)
Safe Zone Facilitation (after completing Safe Zone Training with our partners at 'Cuyahoga Community College)
Sponsoring LGBT Friendly films at local theaters
