CPH Script Club OUTLoud: Yentl

Tuesday, Jan 7, 2014, 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

Yentl is a startlingly modern love story, and a smart, witty comedy that will win your heart. In this play, by Leah Napolin and Isaac Bashevis Singer, a young woman defies convention and the laws of her people to fulfill her dream. Disguised as a young man, she becomes a brilliant student — and the most wanted bachelor in town. As Yentl herself says, “It’s a story - About the mystery of appearances. The Deceptions of the heart. And the divine androgyny of the soul!”

RSVP required. Contact the CCPL--Beachwood Branch at (216) 831-6868 or register online.

The InsideCPH series offers free opportunities all season long to get up-close-and-personal with the people and processes that make Cleveland Play House's work happen. One of these programs is CPH Script Club, offered in partnership with area libraries. The CPH Script Club is like a book club, but with a play in the spotlight. To participate, check out a copy of the script from one of CPH's partner libraries and read it at home. Then join CPH Artistic Staff at the library for a free-flowing exploration of the story and what it means for our community, as well as how CPH artists take a play from page to stage.

The Beachwood Branch of the Cuyahoga County Library specifically requested a special LGBTQ session of the Script Club—which we’re calling Script Club OUTLoud. Trans activist Jacob Nash will be a special guest for this conversation. For more information, visit the Play House's Script Club webpage.
